Idolized producer and DJ Slushii has released his 14-track masterpiece E.L.E (Extinction Level Event), marking Monstercat’s first album release of 2022. This album has been three years in the making and grows upon Slushii’s signature dubstep style. With trap-inspired beats, melodic bass, and a futuristic pop-fueled edge, E.L.E showcases Slushii’s versatility in music, while still staying true to his roots. From “ICE” with Rickyxsan to “ACID HAUS” with Trilla, this collection highlights the most boundary-pushing sounds from the very beginning of his meteoric rise. “Carousel” is the hot single from the album, and it features award-winning singer Kiesza. Kiesza was stoked to jump on this track, and she shared, ““Slushii and I met through friends and we instantly bonded over our nerdiness. We’ve worked on a few projects together before and we’ve been sitting on some music for a while now. I’m so excited we finally get to release ‘Carousel’ into the world! It was a ton of fun to record.” A crisp sound design paired with Kiesza’s melodic voice makes this track an easy listen.
This album has been in the works for a while. Slushii’s preceding album Dream III was released in September 2020, and even with a mighty 23 tracks, fans were patiently awaiting more hits from this DJ. Slushii shares on E.L.E, “This album is the culmination of three years of my best work. I really felt that there was a need for an album to revive the early 2010’s brostep machine, and fix it up with some new modern tech! This is a slow burn type of album, and one I hope you listen to front to back that can stand as a new beginning in the book of Slushii!”
Slushii also shared the personal inspiration that led to the creation of this collection. E.L.E is strongly inspired by Slushii’s deep-rooted passion for Anime and Japanese culture, evident in the album and singles artwork, as well as the characters that make up the E.L.E storyline. Slushii debuted on Monstercat with his the release of his song Emptiness in April 2016. He has greatly risen in popularity since his first visit to Monstercat, and E.L.Eis setting the tone for the artist he is becoming.
