One of bass music’s most in-demand producers, Tape B, continues a defining creative chapter with the release of “Signature Sound,” an original collaboration with legendary Atlanta producer Zaytoven, available across DSPs on August 12.
Rooted in Tape B’s long-standing connection to both dubstep and hip-hop, “Signature Sound” brings together two influences that have shaped his music from the beginning. Drawing on the raw sound design and energy of early 2010s dubstep alongside the rhythm and musicality of hip-hop, the track captures the cross-genre approach that has become central to Tape B’s identity.
The collaboration with Zaytoven brings that vision full circle. A defining figure in modern hip-hop production, Zaytoven has helped shape records for artists including Gucci Mane, Future, Migos, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. His distinctive production style makes the pairing feel less like an unexpected crossover and more like a natural extension of Tape B’s ongoing effort to connect hip-hop and bass music.
That connection has been evident throughout Tape B’s career. His catalogue includes fan-favourite unofficial reworks of Mac Miller’s “Loud” with 2.1 million streams, Flatbush Zombies’ “222” with 1.2 million streams, and A$AP Rocky’s “Goldie” with 1.2 million streams. Alongside a growing collection of hip-hop-inspired edits, these tracks have become staples of his consistently sold-out live sets.
In 2024, Tape B took that relationship with hip-hop further through his first official collaboration in the genre, “Trippy Land” with Juicy J, which has since surpassed four million streams across platforms. Working with Zaytoven now represents another significant step in that evolution, pairing Tape B with a producer whose influence spans multiple generations of hip-hop.
Rather than diluting either artist’s identity, “Signature Sound” gives both producers room to remain unmistakably themselves. The track opens with a playful introduction from Zaytoven before moving into heavyweight bass, dynamic sound design and the unmistakable “wub” energy at the heart of Tape B’s production. Zaytoven’s rhythmic instincts and musicality run through the record, creating a meeting point between Atlanta hip-hop and the dubstep sound that first inspired Tape B.

“This song was originally inspired by the famous UKF dubstep tutorial, and I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration from that era for this song. I want the entire vibe of it to feel like something that came from the 2010-2012 era of dubstep.
When I saw a video of Zaytoven talking about his production process, I thought that him talking about the “wub” sound was perfect for a revamped modern version of the UKF dubstep tutorial but in a new school way.
We reached out to Zaytoven’s team and had some phone calls about making this an official collaboration and they were very excited about it. My goal is to continue bridging the gap between hip-hop and dubstep and this song is a great example of it. The release arrives amid a landmark run for Tape B. Following sold-out dates on his Summer Program amphitheatre tour alongside Levity, acclaimed collaborations with Subtronics, Zeds Dead and GRiZ, and ahead of his upcoming nearly sold-out two-night Red Rocks headline, Tape B continues to expand both the scale of his live presence and the creative boundaries of his music.
Even as music increasingly moves through rapidly changing trends and short-form moments, Tape B has remained focused on building a recognisable artistic identity and a strong community around his work. His music continues to draw from the records and sounds that first connected him with electronic music while opening the door to collaborators beyond the traditional boundaries of the genre.
“Signature Sound” is a particularly clear reflection of that approach. It revisits the energy of the 2010–2012 dubstep era without simply recreating it, pairing those influences with contemporary production and the musical language of one of hip-hop’s most recognisable producers.
