Klangkarussell Return With First Album in Over a Decade, Petrichor — A Cinematic Journey of Euphoria, Reflection, and Reinvention

More than ten years after their breakout project Netzwerk reshaped the global electronic landscape, Austrian duo Klangkarussell unveil their long-anticipated second album, Petrichor, released November 7 on their own imprint, Bias Beach Records. The project expands their world of emotionally charged electronic music, balancing cinematic scale with intimate storytelling across 13 meticulously crafted tracks.

Where Netzwerk became synonymous with international hits and dancefloor momentum, Petrichor moves inward—exploring themes of resilience, connection, and personal discovery. It is a body of work that embraces both the rush of club euphoria and the quiet clarity that follows it, capturing the feeling of renewal that gives the album its name.

Among the album’s standout moments is Ride, a radiant nod to the shimmering textures of 80s disco reimagined through Klangkarussell’s modern production sensibility. Driven by neon-lit synths and buoyant energy, the track offers one of the album’s most surprising turns, contrasting its more contemplative pieces with playful lightness.

The record opens with Truth Begins featuring Blazey, a sweeping blend of hypnotic arpeggios, deep groove, and cinematic release that sets the emotional tone for what follows. Its accompanying music video, starring Olympic gold medalist Anna Gasser, adds another layer of depth to the track’s message of confronting one’s inner truth.

Other highlights include Cross The Border, created with Bloom Twins, an intimate reflection on family life during wartime in Ukraine, and The Tide, featuring Elmar, where ethereal vocals glide over lush, flowing production. Sun Went Down, Sky Went Dark, crafted with GIVVEN and Senes, merges melodic and Afro-house influences into a sunset-ready anthem steeped in bittersweet warmth.

With collaborators including Blazey, GIVVEN, Bloom Twins, Oliva, Redward Martin, Elmar, Marieme, and Senes, Petrichor marks a bold evolution for Klangkarussell. It moves effortlessly between sweeping crescendos and quiet emotional terrain, blending organic textures with the duo’s signature electronic precision. The result is a record that reaffirms their place as one of electronic music’s most distinctive voices.

We wanted this album to feel like a journey through our world – the highs, the struggles, the quiet moments, the big ones. ‘Petrichor‘ is about renewal, about finding beauty in change, just like the smell of rain after a storm.” – Klangkarussell
