Multifaceted artist Crankdat returns to Monstercat Uncaged, debuting his first collaboration with Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J in the new release, “Open The Pit.”

Blurring the lines between EDM and hip-hop, “Open The Pit” exemplifies the trend of cross-genre innovation in today’s music scene. As electronic producers explore fresh sounds, Juicy J brings his iconic hip-hop style into the world of high-energy EDM, creating a hybrid that combines hip-hop’s rhythmic intensity with the festival-friendly beats of electronic music. This genre fusion is drawing artists like Juicy J into new musical realms, while producers like Crankdat demonstrate their adaptability, driving a wave of cultural crossover.

Already a hit with live audiences, “Open The Pit” made a splash when Juicy J joined Crankdat onstage at the Hollywood Palladium. Crankdat’s performances at festivals like Lost Lands, North Coast Music Festival, and the Rawhide Event Center (opening for Illenium) left fans in awe as he previewed the track.

Crankdat’s recent four-stop Absolute Annihilation California tour saw incredible demand, with over 11,000 tickets sold. His Hollywood Palladium show featured jaw-dropping pyrotechnics, including 12-foot middle finger flame structures, and kicked off with a 360° sold-out set at DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Highlights included Juicy J’s surprise performance of “Open The Pit” and a viral Bruce Buffer intro. Earlier in 2024, Crankdat’s Total Termination Tour sold out across 11 dates in major venues like Denver’s Ogden Theatre and DC’s Echostage. He also made headlines at EDC Las Vegas, closing out BassPOD Saturday to record-breaking attendance, and debuted at Ayu Dayclub during EDC Week. Crankdat’s remixes and viral social media presence, particularly on TikTok, continue to grow his fanbase.

An artist of many talents, Crankdat is also known for his creative direction. His animated “Open The Pit” music video, co-created with artists Lee Griffin and JasePlanet using Blender 4.1 and 4.2, immerses fans in a GTA-inspired world featuring Crankdat and Juicy J on a wild night of heists, parties, and cop chases.

Reflecting on the release, Crankdat shared, “I’m so excited that ‘Open The Pit’ is finally coming out. This song has been 3 years in the making, and getting Juicy J on it was a dream come true. Along with the track, we’re releasing a music video that’s been a labor of love to plan and create, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”

Fans can hear “Open The Pit” live from Crankdat at upcoming stops at EDSeaApocalypse: ZombielandDecadenceEDC Thailand, and more here.
